About This Location
The Anoka County Bunker Hills Compost Site, at 13285 Hanson Blvd NW inside Bunker Hills Regional Park in Coon Rapids, is one of two county-run compost sites for Anoka County residents. It takes yard waste (grass, leaves, garden waste, sod), tree waste (brush, logs, wood chips), and organics/food scraps. From April 1 through November 30 it is open Monday–Friday 10 AM–7 PM, Saturday 9 AM–5 PM, and Sunday noon–5 PM, weather permitting; from December through March it opens Saturdays only, 9 AM–1 PM. Proof of Anoka County residency is required, and a fee schedule applies to larger loads, though the first four cubic yards of yard waste and the first two cubic yards of small tree waste are free. As of 2026, whole stumps are no longer accepted. Cash, credit, and debit cards are taken on-site.

Arrive at least 15 minutes before closing to allow time to pay and unload.
