Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to sort my metals before bringing them to Alter Metal Recycling in Peoria?

Sorting is not strictly required, but separating ferrous from nonferrous metals (e.g., keeping copper and brass separate from steel) typically results in higher payouts. Staff can help identify and sort materials, but pre-sorting saves time at the scale.

Can I sell catalytic converters at this Peoria location?

Yes. Alter Metal Recycling purchases catalytic converters. Illinois law requires sellers to provide valid photo ID; the yard may also photograph converters. Bring your vehicle title if selling a converter from a vehicle you own.
