Li-Cycle Alabama Spoke
Recycling Center in Cottondale, Alabama
About This Location
The Li-Cycle Alabama Spoke in Cottondale (greater Tuscaloosa) is an industrial lithium-ion battery recycling plant, not a place where the public can drop off household batteries. The 100,000-plus-square-foot facility was built to shred full EV battery packs and manufacturing scrap under commercial contracts with automakers and battery makers, using a submerged shredding process. It is strictly a business-to-business operation. Li-Cycle suspended operations at its Alabama and Arizona facilities in 2025 and filed for bi-national bankruptcy; the Alabama Spoke has been idled, with its assets part of a sale process. If you have consumer lithium-ion batteries to recycle, use a retail take-back program or a local household hazardous waste event instead.
Status Update
This location appears to be closed. Industrial B2B lithium-ion battery processing plant (EV packs and manufacturing scrap), never a public drop-off. Operations suspended in 2025 and the facility idled amid Li-Cycle's bankruptcy; do not haul batteries here.
