Frequently Asked Questions

Does R & T Unit Can Company buy steel or iron scrap?

No. R & T specializes exclusively in non-ferrous (non-magnetic) metals. Their rule is simple: if a magnet sticks to it, they don't buy it. For ferrous scrap, you would need a different Sioux Falls scrap yard.

Can individuals bring in a small amount of aluminum cans, or is this for commercial sellers only?

R & T serves commercial, industrial, and individual consumers — everyone is welcome. Drive through during business hours (Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–5:30 PM) with your aluminum cans or other non-ferrous metals and they will weigh and pay on the spot.

How do I know what price I will get for my scrap at R & T?

Prices follow current commodity markets and change regularly. Check the current price list at randtunitcancompany.com or call (605) 332-1222 before your visit. Rates are listed by material type (aluminum cans, copper grades, brass, stainless steel, etc.).
