Tiverton Recycle Center
Recycling Center in Tiverton, Rhode Island
About This Location
The Tiverton Recycle Center — officially the town's Temporary Residential Recycle Center — is a resident-only drop-off at 260 Progress Road, run by the Tiverton Department of Public Works. Open three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., closed for lunch 12:00-12:45 p.m.), it takes a wide range of materials at no charge: curbside-type recyclables, clean mattresses and box springs, scrap metals and large appliances without Freon (stoves, washing machines, dishwashers, dryers), hard plastics, e-waste, books, and clothing. Two fees apply — $5 per car or pickup-truck tire, and a $12 Freon-removal fee for each white-goods appliance that contains Freon, such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Trash, yard waste, and all commercial loads are prohibited. Because this is a temporary facility, residents should check the official Town website for closures before visiting.

What does it cost to drop off tires or appliances?
Tires (car and pickup truck) cost $5.00 each. Appliances that contain Freon — refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers — carry a $12.00 Freon-removal fee per unit. What electronics does the Recycle Center accept?
The center accepts TVs (no broken-screen TVs), computers, laptops, printers, monitors, and cords free of charge. Not accepted with e-waste: light bulbs, single-use batteries, plastic tapes/disks, glass plates or bowls, broken TV tubes, or smoke detectors.
Can I drop off motor oil, and does the center ever close unexpectedly?
Motor oil and filter drop-off is temporarily suspended at the Recycle Center; the Town will post a notice at tiverton.ri.gov when it resumes. The center also closes during extreme weather such as hurricanes and snowstorms, so check the Town website before visiting.
