The Walker/Hackensack Transfer Site is a Cass County-operated solid-waste and recycling drop-off located 2.5 miles north of Hackensack on Highway 371. Residential taxpayers can bring commingled recyclables, mixed paper, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, lead-acid and rechargeable batteries, and used appliances, along with garbage. The county runs dual-stream recycling here, and e-waste and household fluorescent bulbs are accepted free for county residential taxpayers. Hours are seasonal, with reduced winter days from October through March.

Cass County runs dual-stream recycling here: a commingled bin for aluminum and metal cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastic containers, plus a mixed-paper bin for newspaper, magazines, office paper, junk mail and flattened cardboard. Plastic bags, Styrofoam, film, waxed boxes and plastic cups/plates are not accepted.
