Frequently Asked Questions
Does Athens Recycling on Commerce Rd accept plastic or glass?
No. Athens Recycling Corporation is a scrap metal buyer, not a general household recycler. Plastics, glass, and mixed household recyclables are not accepted. For those materials, Athens-Clarke County residents should use the ACC CHaRM center at 1005 College Ave or the county's curbside recycling program.
Is Athens Recycling open on Saturdays?
Yes, on Saturday mornings from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The yard is open Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM and closed on Sunday.
What scrap metals does Athens Recycling buy?
Athens Recycling buys radiators, copper, brass, aluminum cans and scrap aluminum, and stainless steel. It is not a full-service scrap yard for ferrous heavy iron or auto hulks — call (706) 548-9025 to confirm current purchasing for your specific material.
